Google launches internet browser Chrome

Google is launching an open source web browser to compete with Internet Explorer and Firefox.
The browser is designed to be lightweight and fast, and to cope with the next generation of web applications that rely on graphics and multimedia.
Called Chrome, it will launch as a beta for Windows machines in 100 countries, with Mac and Linux versions to come.
"We realised... we needed to completely rethink the browser," said Google's Sundar Pichai in a blog post.
The new browser will help Google take advantage of developments it is pushing online in rich web applications that are challenging traditional desktop programs.

Google has a suite of web apps, such as Documents, Picasa and Maps which offer functionality that is beginning to replace offline software.
"What we really needed was not just a browser, but also a modern platform for web pages and applications, and that's what we set out to build," Mr Pichai, VP Product Management, wrote.
The launch of a beta version of Chrome on Tuesday will be Google's latest assault on Microsoft's dominance of the PC business. The firm's Internet Explorer program dominates the browser landscape, with 80% of the market.

Link Building Strategy

Out of all link building strategy, Link Exchange is the most common. This essntially consists of exchanging links with similar sites/blogs. Mostly these types of links are displayed in the form of blogrolls. This type of link building strategy is also known as two-way links or reciprocal links, since both the sites link each other.

Some easy ways to get two-way links:

1. If you have mutiple sites or blogs, make a blogroll of your own. Its a good way of building two-way links initially with in your own sites.

2. Link directories are another good way of two-way reciprocal links. You can post your link on a link directory and you will need to post its badge on your site in return.

3. You can post an index of your pages or blog contents on the mage page template somewhere. So its displayed with every page.

General points to be noted while exchanging two-way links:

1. Make sure where will your links be displayed. Blogrolls on the main page template are the best but hard to get.

2. Check the PR of that page where your links are to be displayed. People generally asks for links for their main site or main page (which might have a good PR) and return with a link from an interior page of their site which hardly has any traffic or PR.

3. Don't always go by PR, some sites are bound to succeed in long run. Try building links with sites that might succeed later, even if they have a low PR at the moment.

This is a good strategy for starting up link building campaign, but this alone is not sufficient.
Maximum benefit is derived from one-way links. Oneway links are links pointing to your site or blog and your blog not pointing to the same page or site in return.

Some easy ways to get one-way links:

1. Blog and site comments. You don't need to spam comments section with your url for this. Instead use name and url section to post genuine quality comments.

2. Forums. Forums can be a good source of one-way links in two ways. One by having a link to your site on your profile page. Also by including your site and blog links in your signature. So every reply you post on any thread in a forum earns you a one-way link to your site.

Third kind of link building is probably the most useful. Its the three-way link building.
In three way link building strategy you get a link from someone's site and post the link for some other site of the same person in return. Which inturn might be linking to his original site.

Let say You have sites A and Your friend has site B and C, Now you get link from site B and you give link to site C. B -> A -> C
And he in turn links his site C to B C-> B.

Well I can't explain it simpler.

All about links

Links are very important for a sites PR and reputation. Here I would be explaining all I know about links. Anybody can correct me or add anything that I might have missed in comments.

There are two types of links for a site/blog:

1. Inbound: links that point to your site or blog.
2. Outbound: links that point to other sites from your site/blog.

No doubts that inbound links are most important for your sites Ranking but importance of quality outbound links cannot be ignored at the same time.

If your blog or site is relatively new, you should start with good outbound links in relevant sections of your site. I have seen an increase in my sites listing with good outbound links, on some of my blogs initially.

To build initial inbound links, comments and forums are a good starting point.
One such forum where you can start with link building is Digital Point Forum

Also blog catalogs and link directories are a good starting point.

If you are building links to your blogs then you can also consider Technorati and Digg to register and network with people.

Do Follow Blogging

What is Do Follow?

Do Follow is an action or a step a blogger initiates to remove the attribute rel=”nofollow” in its blog codes or HTML template either manually or if using Wordpress, via a plugin.

Blogs that have the ‘no follow’ link disabled/removed from the comments, means that if you comment on these sites, you will get an actual link which will help your popularity and importance in searches and may eventually increase your page rank.

In simpler terms, it means that you care for your readers. You're rewarding them with a link back to your site every time they visit and comment on your blog. It is helping each other build a sense of community within bloggers.

This group is open to all blog catalog bloggers who took a stand to remove the rel=no follow tag created by Google (and followed by other search engines).

If you don't remove the rel=no follow tag on your blog code, it means that every time someone leaves a comment on your site, the link stays there. It will not be crawled by Google or any other search engines. It will be ignored by them hence will not help in ranking the importance of that page. If you wrote a very helpful article and you got traffic and people commented on it yet you did not remove the rel=no follow, Google will simply ignore those comments which could have helped increased the ranking of that particular page.

Free Site and Hosting at Google Sites

Google has recently come up with Sites, where you can not only create and host your site for free but you even get 100MB of free webspace. http://sites.google.com/
Yes ou can host stuff for your other sites here as well and link it to your main site.

Here is a sample site that I created: https://sites.google.com/site/freelegitmoney/
Its pretty simple to use like text editor. Just type in whatever you want to publish or even copy paste just like you do in MS Word.

You can even create multiple pages and a sitemap.

Initial idea for google is to provide a platform to small groups and organizations to create and share sites between the group. But this can be a good starting and learning point for those trying their hand at web publishing. After all its free to try.

Some might wonder how exactly is it different from googlepages, A free page creation service that google is already offering? Well on Google sites not only can you create the pages and link them together with a sitemap but also host 100MB of stuff that you may want to share. This might include usefull appications, drivers, file, songs, clips, multimedia contents anything.

7 Points to Consider Before Blogging for Money

Whenever I mention my blog people roll their eyes or smile in an “I don’t understand but okay” sort of way. When I mention the fact that I make money blogging, however, I suddenly have their attention.

The concept seems simple enough. I write about topics that I enjoy, people read it, and I make money off the advertising. To those of us who’ve been doing it for a while, it is simple. To the novice blogger who’s just getting into the business, however, it’s important to realize what you’re getting into.

If you’re new to blogging and interested in doing it for profit, here are a few things to keep in mind before committing yourself.

1. Blogging is easy. Blogging for profit is more difficult. I won’t go as far as to say it’s hard to draw a secondary income from blogging, but it’s definitely harder than most people think. It’s not just about producing content and slapping up some ads. Good writing, proper templating, ad placement, developing an audience… there are a lot of skills required to make a blog profitable, all of which you’ll need to learn.

2. Blog for the long haul or not at all. A huge majority of blogs fail in the first few months, falling into neglect and disuse. More to the point, few blogs see any profit during the first few months. Unless you can stick with it for at least a year, you’ll probably never see any return for your effort.

3. Pick a niche that you love and stick with it. General purpose or multi-topic blogs have difficulty developing a readership. Brainstorm the topics that you care about most, then pick one and blog about it exclusively.

4. Start with one blog. If you have a lot of items on your list of possible topics, don’t give in to the temptation to start a different blog for each one. By dividing your effort between several blogs, you increase the likelihood that all of them will fail. Put all of your effort into one blog to start. Once you get the hang of things, then you might consider branching out with additional blogs.

5. If you’re unsure, test drive. The fact is that many people don’t have the drive or stamina to blog for profit successfully. If you’re not sure, try a starter blog on a free service such as Blogger or Wordpress.com. Feel it out for a few weeks. If, by the end of this time, you’ve stuck with it and feel like blogging is right for you, go ahead and commit to the effort. This advice applies equally well to test driving new topics if you’re unsure what to write about.

6. Place ads wisely. Some people recommend not placing ads on a blog until it has matured somewhat. Others recommend putting them up right away. There are advantages and disadvantages to both approaches. Just be sure to place your ads tactfully so as not to overwhelm your readers. Put the user experience in the first place.

7. Enjoy yourself. This is the real key to successful blogging. If you pick a topic that you love and blog about it with passion for months and years on end, your blog will build a readership, generate income, and generally be a success. If, however, your blog becomes a chore to maintain, it will inevitably fail.

The main point I want to convey is that many people try to blog for profit and fail. If you approach the task with the right expectations and some proper planning, you will succeed.
